Primary Areas of Focus

College Students and Emerging Adults

Are you trying to navigate college life, meet deadlines, cope with stress and overwhelm, all while attempting to figure out what it means to be “independent”? Have you graduated or completed a phase in your life, and the next step isn’t all it was cracked up to be?  Are you stuck between a rock and a hard place, and you’re not sure which path to take next?  Maybe you’re on your designated path, but life is getting in the way, and you are struggling to move forward.  If any of these sound familiar, I am committed to helping you get unstuck and finding your way.

Internationals and Repatriates

INTERNATIONALS: Have you come to The States for school, work, travel, or adventure?  Are you struggling to thrive as a foreigner in a foreign land?  Is the American Dream not all you thought it would be?  Maybe you love your new “home”, but you miss friends, family, authentic food, and people who speak your home language.  I want you to know that no matter how lonely you feel, YOU ARE NOT ALONE.  Regardless of your reason, if you are currently residing in your “home away from home”, I am so glad you are here!

REPATRIATES: (Missionaries, Military, Study Abroad Students, etc.) Are you returning to The States after living abroad?  Were you eager to come back “home”, but it doesn’t feel like home?  Are you feeling like a foreigner in your own land?  Is everything else the same, but you’ve changed? REVERSE CULTURE SHOCK is a real thing!  Often, when expats return home, what used to seem like simple, ordinary tasks (going to the grocery store, enjoying dinner at a restaurant, or simply having a conversation) suddenly may seem challenging.  If you are struggling to repatriate, I’d love to help you find your groove again!

Adjustment, Transition, and Grief

Have you experienced a recent life change and are finding it difficult to adjust to this transition? Even positive stressors (moving, graduating, marriage, having a baby, etc.) are still stressors! It is completely normal to have an “adjustment period” where it may be more challenging than expected to adapt to your “new normal”. If this briefly describes what you are experiencing, I would love to help you process your experience and find ways to adapt and THRIVE in your new normal.

GRIEF: Grief can be an agonizing experience and is often frustrating because there is no instruction manual for how to heal through grief. Grief is not linear, and everybody’s healing journey is different. If you are experiencing a loss (death of a loved one, divorce, miscarriage, change in career, moving from a place you loved, etc.) and are looking for a safe space to grieve, I would be honored to provide that space for you.

 Additional Services

Christian Counseling

For many of us, our faith and spirituality are the foundation for how we live our lives.  Are you interested in integrating a Christian perspective into your counseling sessions?  Maybe you aren’t sure what you believe and you’re searching for answers?  It’s possible you know what you believe, but it’s been awhile since you’ve felt God’s presence, or you may feel stagnant in your faith journey.  Whatever the case may be, if you’re struggling with your faith walk, I’d be honored to help you explore this and to point you to Jesus.

**I am a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC) and enjoy staying informed through biblically based mental health training and continuing education.

Teacher/Educator Burnout

Are you a teacher or educator who is struggling to find balance between your professional and personal life? Do you wish you had more time and energy for friends, family, and hobbies while still doing your job well? As a former teacher, school counselor, and educator, I’ve been there, and I GET IT! If you are looking for ways to manage your stress and enjoy the things you love despite working a demanding job, I can help you navigate your options, set boundaries, and reach your fullest potential!

Chronic Pain and Illness

Are you suffering from chronic pain or illness? Do you have an autoimmune disorder that is invisible to the outside world? Or maybe you have a “mysterious illness” that doctors haven’t been able to find a name for? While I am not a doctor and do not provide medical advice, I have both personal experience in navigating the world of mysterious illness along with professional experience in helping clients process the fears, frustrations, and the emotional rollercoaster of seeking answers while still living a balanced life. If you are looking for a safe space to process what you are feeling about your illness and/or are interested in exploring the mind/body connection, I would be honored to listen and encourage you on this journey.

Trauma-Focused CBT

I hold certification in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). TF-CBT is an intensive, therapist-led treatment that is targeted for children 3-18 years old (and has been shown to work with emerging adults or adults who are looking to process childhood trauma) who are experiencing distressing symptoms after a traumatic event.  TF-CBT consists of 12-20 sessions planned to gradually expose clients to their trauma experience.
